Help understanding playlist handling
Added by Mike Spamhater over 10 years ago
I've been a big fan of audacious for many years... it's fast, light, full-featured, flexible, universal, modular, cheap and reliable!!! Thanks for making it available!
In the past I've always just dragged my whole collection to the "New Playlist" tab, randomized it and played. (Yes, I'm a simple man... ;-)
Anyway, now that I'm trying to use playlists, I just can't figure out how the UI is supposed to work. There's no obvious "Save" feature, and once I close a playlist, I can't figure out how to re-open it.
I've played with Export, and can see the file is saved, but once again, once I close the playlist, it's inaccessible from the UI.
I expected something like an "Open Playlist" feature on the file menu and/or in the Playlist Manager...?
Lastly, I can't find a documentation page anywhere I should be reading?
Thanks in advance - I assume I'm just being thick :-(

The internal playlists are stored in ~/.config/audacious/playlists (those .audpl files). Those are all saved automatically, and closing a playlist in the UI deletes it from that folder permanently.
You would use Playlist -> Export if you want to save a playlist to any other folder. To open the exported file again, you'd first create a new, empty playlist in Audacious and then use Playlist -> Import (or just drag the file into Audacious from a file manager, if you find that more convenient).
